Become an approved venue

Hotels and venues within the Telford and Wrekin Registration District can be licensed to hold ‘secular’ weddings, civil partnerships, naming ceremonies, vow renewals and commitment ceremonies. To gain approval, the proprietor or trustee of the venue must apply for permission, reading through the guidance notes carefully before submitting an application. Upon receipt of an application, an inspection of the venue will be carried out by the Registration team to ensure it is suitable for the relevant ceremonies. Licence approvals will be valid for 3 years.

How to apply

Applications and renewals to licence your premise as a 'secular' venue can be made online via the GOV.UK website. Once you have completed the necessary form please return a hard copy to the Registration team.

Current licence fees

The current 3 year licence fees are as follows:

  • £1,090 – ceremony only on any day with no function afterwards
  • £1,860 – ceremony and function from Monday to Saturday only (excluding bank holidays)
  • £2,460 – ceremony and function any day (including bank holidays).
